*If there are changes to your license (For example: change of address, correction of your name, age or birthday.) you may follow the steps below. However, release of your license may vary depending on the LTO Office.

Renewing your Non-expired Driver’s License at SM Marilao, Philippines.
Early June (2018) I went to SM Marilao to have my driver’s license renewed. It is common in the Philippines to spend a whole day, weeks or even years just to get your ID or government document. For example, our plate number for our car hasn’t been released and it’s been years since our application.
I’d like to share some tips and steps so you may get your license fast & hassle free.
This is what a Land Transportation Looks like in the Philippines. It is inside the mall.

If you are facing the mall, it is located at the leftmost side. It is part of it, but there’s no door from the inside.

– Opens at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday (Closed on Saturdays & Sundays)
– In case you have questions call them at 0915 453 5724
– No toilets inside LTO Office, not sure where to pee or do your thing from 8 am to 10 am because,
– SM Marilao Mall opens 10 am to 9 pm (This is where toilets are)
– They have breastfeeding room for mothers

What to bring
– [ ] Old Drivers License with receipt
– [ ] Pen
– [ ] Php 290 Medical
– [ ] Php 652.63 Total for new license

Tips
– Bring exact amount of cash Php 942.63 or at least Php 1,000.
– Go on Thursday morning (less line)
– Bring a book or something to do to kill time in case it will take longer
– Come by 10 am or 11 am. The doctor assigned takes a lunch break so don’t go from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. The first thing you need to complete is the medical so if you come at 12 noon you still can’t proceed to the next step.
– No noon break for the LTO Staff according to Republic Act 9485. Hooray!
– Medical Staff doesn’t have coins and they don’t give the change right away. They will tell you to get the Php 10.00 change after you get your license. There’s a big chance that you might miss it. Like what happened to me. DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR CHANGE even if it’s only Php 10.00. You’ve been warned.

Step 1.Ask the guard/Public Assistant/Complaint Desk for a form to fill up or go to the Window 1.

Step 2. Fill up the small form with answers to the ff:

– Blood type
– Colour of the eye
– Organ donor
– Emergency contact person
– Emergency contact number
– Address

Submit the form to Medical Assistant, pay 290. Fall in line to the Medical.

Wait for your turn. The doctor will only ask you to read the letters & numbers. There goes your Php 290.00.

Step 3. The doctor will tell you to give your papers to “Window 3”. Wait for your name to be called. The staff will ask you to look at the camera for your picture. Then write your digital signature. Wait for your name to be called again.

Step 4. Window 4 will call your name for the payment of Php 652.63. Staff will ask you to write your name on the sheet of paper with your name & signature. Wait for your name to be called.

(They don’t really release the license here.)

Step 5. Window 3 will call your name again to take a picture of you & get your digital fingerprints. They will ask you to go inside to double check your details before they print your new license. After printing they will ask you to sign again on a sheet of paper to confirm that you’ve received your new license.

Step 6. Check again your details on your newly printed driver’s license. It should be valid for 5 years now (before it was just valid for 3 years).

Step 7. Don’t forget to go back to Medical & get your change.

I hope this saves you time & have a better experience of renewing your driver’s license.
